Douglas "Doug" Hattaway is an American communications consultant and spokesperson who has served dozens of major organizations, political campaigns, and government leaders in the U.S. and around the world. Hattaway appears regularly as a public affairs analyst and commentator on CNN, MSNBC and the FOX News Channel. He currently serves as president of his global consulting firm, Hattaway Communications, and as an advisor to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.
In 2000, Hattaway served as the national spokesman for the Gore/Lieberman presidential campaign and was the Democrats' lead spokesman during the Florida recount, which has been called "the political story of the century." Hattaway worked as Communications Director for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the anthrax attack on the U.S. Capitol. He’s served as press secretary to New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen, the state’s first female governor, and as a consultant to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, the state’s first African-American governor.
