Garth Ennis is an Irish comics writer, best known for the DC/Vertigo series Preacher, co-created with artist Steve Dillon, and his wildly successful revival of Marvel Comics' Punisher franchise.

His work is characterised by extreme violence, black humour, profanity, an interest in male friendship, a disdain for organized religion, and contempt for superheroes. Frequent artistic collaborators include Steve Dillon, Glenn Fabry, Carlos Ezquerra and John McCrea.
