Kathleen Babineaux Blanco is a former Democratic Governor of Louisiana, having served from January 2004 until January 2008.
She was elected on November 15, 2003, defeating her Republican opponent Bobby Jindal, in the general election, by a margin of 52 percent to 48 percent. She became the first woman to hold the office of governor of Louisiana.
