Leonard Orr is an American best known for developing Rebirthing-Breathwork, a 'system' or technique of breathing that can help one to overcome the "trauma" of being born. Leonard claims to have met twelve immortal yogis, including Haidakhan Babaji who died in 1984. According to Orr, Haidakan Babaji was the Mahavatar of the Kriya Yoga lineage brought to the West by Paramahansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi and founder of the Self-Realization Fellowship. This claim is strongly disputed, among others by Marshall Govindan, author of "Babaji and the 18 Siddha Kriya Yoga Tradition" . According to Govindan, the Babaji who started the Kriya Yoga tradition was born on 30 November 203 in Southern India, reached physical immortality when he was 16 years of age, and is now living in the Himalayas, manifesting himself to very few individuals.
