Katherine Patricia Routledge, CBE is an English actress and singer, who is probably best known for her role as Hyacinth Bucket in the British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.
Routledge was born in Birkenhead. She was educated at Birkenhead High School, an independent girls' school, and the University of Liverpool. She trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and launched her acting career at the Liverpool Playhouse.
