Wasim Akram is a former Pakistani cricketer. He was a left-arm fast bowler and left-handed batsman, who represented the Pakistani cricket team in Tests and One Day Internationals. Widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers ever, Akram holds world records for the most wickets taken in both ODIs and List A cricket , and was one of the pioneers of reverse swing bowling. The latter aroused a suspicion of foul play initially as such a bowling style was at the time relatively unseen, however this was overshadowed by strong accusations of match fixing towards the end of Akram's career. Though these went unproven, the ruling bodies maintained that Akram was not above suspicion.
