“It gave me and the players a chance to see some of the other teams in the district and a lot of good teams in the area. We got to see how we compete with them. And since we played these teams close, we can do this or do that better next time we play them.”
Charlotte Jones
“This a great opportunity to be around the game. Obviously, there will be a little bit more responsibility. As (the) hitting coach (last season), I was kind of lurking in the shadows whereas the manager has to deal with hitters, the pitchers, the front office and the fans. It's a bigger responsibility, but one I accept and look forward to.”
Aaron Nieckula
“We want to beat the good teams, and Midland High still is the team that's the defending district champion. We know these other teams and they know us. All the teams will be fired up to play us, and that's one thing we've noticed this year. Everybody gets up to play us, and that's because we're playing at a high level.”
Jim Bragg
“We haven't had any team state titles, but we've had several district champions and a lot of good teams here. We've had teams get close, but at some point, a school comes and trips us up.”
Ricky Jones
“We gave every team in district our best game, but their hits fell in, and ours didn't. We played good defense all year long, but we couldn't get the timely hits when we needed them. The girls learned the hard way, and it's just one of those things.”
Kathy Barker
“Over the last couple of years, we've had a team that's done really well in the district. Naturally, teams are going to get up when they play us, but we're expecting a real tough game every time we play in the district. We feel like several of the teams are going to be real good this year. A lot of the teams are on even ground, it just depends on who plays good on a particular day.”
Barry Shelton
“I am surprised they left us in a six-team district with four teams in the playoffs. I'm pleased too, because I've got a good schedule.”
