“Should an alderman elect to resign, they can do that at any time. The resignation would be received in a formal meeting of the board. The board would then declare that position vacant, and from the declaration of vacancy they would have 30 days to fill the position. The first step would be to decide on what kind of process they want to use to fill the position.
