“Three things tell a man: his eyes, his friends and his favorite quotes.”
Ely Culbertson (American Writer)
Date of Birth:
July 22, 1891
Date of Death:
December 27, 1955
Ely Culbertson was the most significant American Contract bridge personality. He played the major role in the early development of the game, and was widely regarded as 'the man who made contract bridge'. He was a great showman who became rich, was highly extravagent, and lost and gained fortunes several times over. His autobiography, The strange lives of one man is, perhaps fittingly, the most extraordinary ever written by a card-player.
