“Unusually for social housing of this type, there is nothing institutional about the feel of this building. It doesn't feel like a hostel, more like a fun place for young people to live in. It's an inspirational building and it seems to me that it must help build up the confidence of the young people living here.”
“Today is a most unusual day, because we have never lived it before; we will never live it again; it is the only day we have.
Today can be a healthy unusual day for you -- and for others -- if you take time to give someone a smile . . . to express a word of kindness . . . to lend a helping hand to someone in need . . . to write a note of gratitude . . . to give a word of encouragement to someone who is temporarily overcome with problems . . . to share a portion of your material possessions with others.”
“Old civil and social institutions are often full of traditions and ritual; old ideas. It's much easier for young people to look at them and just assume them to be irrelevant than bother to infiltrate them and influence positive change. Too often its only the vitality of youth and the will to change that's required to turn them into profoundly relevant bodies in our modern world.”
